How Vulnerable Is Your Supply Chain?

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

11:00am - 2:00pm

Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza
251 South Olive Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Issue:

Many middle-market American manufacturing companies now outsource a portion of their production to China. This can be a highly effective strategy to significantly reduce costs, but it does involve its own set of challenges. Product quality control, on-time shipment and delivery, payment processing for initial orders, payment term offering, and other key elements in an outsourcing relationship have all proven to be painful learning experiences for many businesses that import from China. Language and cultural differences with Chinese businesses can make also add to the challenges of managing the outsourced portion of a supply chain.

This program offers a comprehensive briefing addressing a broad range of issues arising in U.S.-China trade. Topics range from logistics strategies to analysis of key operational issues including freight rates, vessel capacity and port infrastructure. Walk away from this session with a broad, in-depth picture of current trade and logistics issues. Trading transactions, tips on shipping logistics, suitable banking tools and trade secrets will also be covered.
